WRITE AN ACCOUNT OF YOUR (OR YOUR          CHARACTER’S) MEETING WITH                SOMEONE WITH WHOM YOU /THEY          HAVE HAD DIFFICULTIES IN THE PAST

The person may appear unexpectedly or you may be expecting to have to meet them.   You may want to let them have it, and suddenly scream out no matter what is happening.

Or you may feel constrained to act polite as you have to shake their hand and ask how they are, perhaps both of you  are pretending not to know each other.

They could be an ex-husband/wife/lover (you perhaps the present husband/wife not knowing) someone who cheated you of money, who committed a violent crime against you or yours

They could be someone know of as having abhorrent political views.

Perhaps it was a long time ago.  You look at their withered features and broken body and have some sympathy, having expected to savour in their downfall and tell them so.   Or they may try to play upon present misfortunes.

They could be an estranged parent or paedophile teacher

Think about conveying attitudes and information through the dialogue.    How to you do self-enforced politeness?   Or pretending not to be able to know or remember the details?    How to you show someone saying one thing but meaning something else.  You might want to use an inner monologue going alongside the actual dialogue.

Looking at and assessing someone when they’re talking to someone else.  Think of Shylock:  (aside) How like a fawning publican he looks!”
