Work for Next Time (week 5): back story
Choose one of your openings from last time and do some back story to ‘explain’ it. The way you do the back story depends on where and how to do the opening.
The key thing in modern writing is not to let the back story hold up the flow of the story. Cut it down to the minimum you need for the reader to make sense of what’s going on.
