Work for Week Twelve

Describe an event or situation of some kind, preferably based on personal experience.  Build up some assumptions in the reader’s mind (or your own).

At the end of the text undercut the assumptions and show that what’s really going on here is quite different from what the reader is assuming

For example

·       You go to a play in which people are being executed on stage, and then realise that the executions are real and that you are next

·       Tender domestic scene in which wife is caring for sick husband,
but at the end it isn’t his medicine but poison she gives him

·      Ugly duckling realises he’s a swan
